Restored is committed to protecting your privacy. We aim to ensure that any information you give us is held securely and safely.

This statement explains how we collect, use and store information via our website and its implications for you. This statement should be read in conjunction with our Terms and Conditions.

We only collect data from people for specific purposes, and once that purpose has finished, we only retain that data for a limited period of time and in accordance with our data retention policy. We also do not share your data with any third parties other than set out in this privacy policy or if you’ve specifically asked us to.

Who we are

Restored is a Christian charity working to end violence against women by equipping the Church to stand against abuse and with survivors. We are a charity registered in England and Wales (No. 113674). When and how do we collect information on this website?

Supporters

When you subscribe to our mailing list, fill out a form on our website, or purchase a Resource via our online shop , or donate to Restored, you are providing us with your personal information, such as your name and contact details. We save it and may use it to communicate with you, thank you for your support, and invite you to support us further, always in order with your preferences. We may also contact you to invite you to fundraising or other events. We will also process the information we collect about you on the basis of legitimate interest to improve our fundraising, including by analysing the information we collect to increase our understanding of our supporters and understand the level of potential donations. We will always do this in compliance with the rules in relation to direct marketing, including those set out by the Fundraising Regulator. If you give them your consent, we collect information from third parties including fundraising platforms such as Enthuse and Stewardship, or other sites like JustGiving. You can check their privacy policies to see how they handle your data.

Survivors

When you sign up to join our Survivors’ Network, you are providing us with personal information, including your name and contact details, that we will store and use to communicate with you. We will use this information to send you content related to the Survivors’ Network, such as blogs and emails, in line with your preferences. We may also process the data you have provided on the basis of legitimate interest to monitor and improve our service provision, including by analysing the data we collect to increase our understanding of our Survivors Network members.

When you request one of our free Survivors Handbooks as a survivor, you are also providing us with personal information, including your name, email address and mailing address. We will store this information on the basis of legitimate interest in order to monitor and evaluate our resource provision, but we will not use it to communicate with you outside of the preferences that you have expressed, and always in ways that are in line with UK data protection laws.

Job applicants & Beacon Church Coordinator applicants

When you apply for a position within Restored, either as a volunteer, intern, or paid member of staff, we will use the information you provide to consider your application. We will use and process your data for the purposes of communicating with you regarding your application. We process the data collected about you on the basis of a legitimate interest in processing your application, and for certain categories for the purpose of complying with a legal obligation (e.g., data relating to your ability to work in the UK). The same applies for those applying to become Beacon Church Coordinators – we will only use the information you provide to assess your suitability for the role and communicate with you regarding your application. Any data collected will be stored in line with our Data Retention policy.

Website Users

We collect non-personal data about people who visit our website. That’s things like IP addresses (which tell us, for example, the places where people are logging on), which pages people visit and which files they download. This data is collected on the basis of the legitimate interest of hosting and maintaining our website. This helps us find out if our website is working well and helps us improve it. This information is collected using cookies – see the section on cookies below.

What is our basis for processing your data?

We will only use your data in the ways described in this privacy notice and on the legal basis set out under each category You can change your preferences at any time by clicking on ‘my preferences’ or ‘unsubscribe’ links at the bottom of every email you received from us via our email platform, or by emailing info@restored-uk.org to let us know your change in preference.

Additionally, we will contact you by post or email if we have a legitimate reason to. For example, if you make a donation we may send you information about how your donation is helping, or about other work we want to do. But we won’t contact you in this way if you’ve asked us not to. And you can change your preferences any time by contacting us here.

Cookies

We collect data using cookies. A cookie is an alphanumeric text file that is sent from a website and stored on your computer’s hard drive by your web browser. Most browsers allow you to turn off the cookie function, however if you opt to do this you may be unable to access certain parts of the site. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies as soon you visit our site.

The use of cookies is an industry standard of most major websites.

Restored uses the following cookies:

These allow the website to remember information from page to page, such as your details as you fill in a donation form, whether you want the mobile or full site, etc

It does not remember any personal information like name, or email address.

All except the MobileLayout are deleted when you leave the page.

These allow us to track a set of data to help improve the website. These cookies help tell Restored how many people have been to the site before, what time people visited the site and what pages were looked at. No personal information is stored.Some are deleted when you leave the site, but others may last as long as 2 years.

We use a small number of freely available tools to improve our website. ShareThis allows a visitor to share or like that page on Google+, Email, Facebook, Twitter etc. We place all our videos on YouTube..

However, you may not be able to use all the interactive features of our site if cookies are disabled. To enjoy the Restored site to the full, we recommend that you leave them switched on.

Use of IP addresses

We collect IP addresses to obtain aggregate information on the use of this website. An IP address is a number assigned to your computer by a web server when you’re on the web. When you are on our site, we have a server that logs your computer’s IP address.

We only use the information we find out from tracking IP addresses in the aggregate, such as how many users entered a specific area of our site, and not to track a specific IP address to identify an individual user.

Respecting your privacy

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for each activity. What we have to do by law, accounting and tax all come into play. If you tell us you’re happy for us to send you marketing materials, we’ll keep contacting you for up to three years, unless you tell us not to. We use cloud-based systems to process data – that means data may be processed outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). We only let this happen when we believe your data will be kept safe. We do everything we can to make sure your data is looked after as described in this policy. By giving us your personal data you’re agreeing to us using the cloud-based systems to process it.

We do all we can to protect your personal data, and this includes working with reputable companies such as @Mailchimp. (You can click on this link, to find their Privacy Policy), and having the right technology. For example, online forms are encrypted and our network is protected and regularly monitored.

The only people who can access personal data are those Restored’s staff members or volunteers who can’t do their jobs without it. These people are all trained in data protection.

When we share your information

Restored does not sell any information about you to other organisations. We may need to pass on information when required by law or by a regulatory body (for example, for a Gift Aid audit by the Inland Revenue or if asked for details by a law enforcement agency). We may provide third parties with overall information about visitors and users to our site, but this information, other than as explained above, is both aggregate and anonymous.
